MY STORY

Although I am still the same person at heart, I have changed dramatically since April 16, 2020. Grief and forced change have a way of doing that to a person. I hope I have changed for the better; that despite the number and magnitude of my losses, I can proclaim even more boldly that “God is Good.”

And He has been good to me - right in the middle of a life turned upside down in the blink of an eye. He has not deserted me nor withheld His love from me. In fact, He has continued to pour it out in unexpected ways, and through unexpected people. He has kept me through the long days, and held me through the even longer nights. He has taught me that His Grace truly is sufficient.

He has called me to face my biggest fears:

Loss: When we love, and are loved, the risk is always there. But we hope and pray we don’t ever have to face it. But if and when we do - His love covers us still.

Rejection and Abandonment: When those we love and whom we think we can depend on to love us - turn away from us - the wound already formed from loss is ripped open again - and now seems impossible to tend to so that it can heal. But Jesus came to bind up our wounds and heal our broken hearts. And He is faithful to keep His promises.

Isolation: When suddenly everyone you know and every place you have known are stripped away - there you sit - just you and God. But He does not turn away. In fact, he draws closer still.

He whispers the sweetest truths through His Word. You are precious. You are loved. You are mine.

And I am. As are you.

Nothing, absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of Christ Jesus.

Below is a just a small portion of “My Story” entitled “The Promise” which was published by Calla Press.

It tells part of the story of my grief journey; how and when it began.

But more than that, it reveals that “My Story” could be more accurately referred to as “His Story.”

A story that holds His Grace, which runs deeper than the deepest grief. And a story, that because of His Grace holds a Hope and a Future.

A story that is still being written and holds the threads of Redemption that are being woven throughout it even now.

The Promise

As the editor of Calla Press, very seldom do I come across an article that moves me to tears. We know words have power, but how they are put together brings another level of experience for the reader. My experience while reading Terry’s heartbreaking article moved me so much, that I prayed for the comfort and peace of the writer behind it. I pray this article reaches the hearts of those suffering from a tragic loss during this pandemic and I pray it brings all of us to our knees in prayer for this broken world.
